In short the Chinese SKS rifles are actually good quality, see below for some history. My norinco slam fired once. But that was about 9 years ago. Nothing but but good times since. Any SKS will slam fire if the firing pin channel is gunked up, so take that for what it's worth OP.. Fileupload

Like other posters have mentioned, the 7.62x39 will drop a coyote with no issues. I’m not sure how well the SKS is suited to coyote hunting though.
